Our service project this year is “Raising the Awareness of Prostate Cancer.” with prostate cancer diagnoses on the rise and almost 300,000 men expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year, your help is needed.
Every 2 minutes, a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer, 1 in 8 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and every 15 minutes, a man dies of prostate cancer. Black and African American men every 13 minutes diagnosed with prostate cancer, and 1 in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime; every day, nearly 17 black men die of prostate cancer. Each year, about 41,600 black men are expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Community & Faith Outreach Initiative, Inc. is preparing kits with information about prostate cancer to pass out to the men of Indiana. Partnering with the Indiana Conference Women’s Missionary Societies of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, we can reach the State of Indiana to pass out our message. If you want to partner with us to spread the news, contact Mary Vaughn at vaughnm671@gmail.com.
