At our meetings, you’ll experience the camaraderie of like-minded individuals who understand the unique challenges and joys of raising grandchildren or other kinship children. These gatherings provide a safe and welcoming space to share your experiences, ask questions, and gain valuable insights.
Our Kinship Support Group meetings take place every fourth Tuesday of the month, and we’ve made it even more convenient by hosting them on Zoom. You can join us from the comfort of your own home at 5:00 p.m.
During these meetings, we engage in impactful discussions on various topics relevant to kinship caregiving. From navigating legal and financial matters to managing the emotional aspects of raising kinship children, our sessions are designed to provide you with the information and support you need.

Our story began in Gary, Indiana, in 2009. It was a time when our hearts were moved by the incredible dedication of grandparents going above and beyond to support their grandchildren at school and home. Many of these remarkable individuals faced immense challenges while navigating the responsibilities of raising their grandchildren, yet their unwavering determination persisted. We were inspired to do something meaningful, something that would honor their resilience and unconditional love. Thus, our journey commenced. We set out to reach every corner of our schools, churches, and communities, calling upon everyone to nominate these extraordinary souls whose love and sacrifice knew no bounds. Our mission? To establish the ‘Because of Love’ Award—an homage to these exceptional caregivers whose impact transcends generations. Together, let’s stand in awe of their excellent dedication and celebrate their profound influence on their families and the entire community.
